The City strives to build, permit, and manage as diverse an urban ecosystem as possible and per Local Law 1065 of 2023, NYC has set a target to reach 30% overall tree canopy within the city by 2035. A diverse ecosystem is ultimately more resilient and reduces the risks associated with urban forest management and maintenance.
